Following the recent departure of banjo player Brad Powers after a two-and-a-half year stint, Hammertowne has announced today that they are welcoming Chase Bennett into the band in his place.
For the past four years Chase picked the five with Caroline Owens, and before that with Middle Cross in his native North Carolina. Now hooked up with Kentucky’s Hammertowne, he says that he feels blessed to take this new position.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the past four years with Caroline Owens. That time gave me so many great friendships, unforgettable memories, and opportunities to grow as a musician. I’ll always be grateful for that chapter of my life.
I’ve been a fan of Hammertowne’s music for a long time, so I’m excited for the opportunity to make music and travel with them.
Most of all I’m thankful to the Lord for opening this door. I’m looking forward to what the future holds, and to sharing this next chapter with my wife, Maggie, and our daughter, Callie.”
Guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter for Hammertowne, David Carroll, sees him as a perfect fit.
“Brad’s departure left some big shoes to fill, but Chase is just what the doctor ordered, his playing just suits us to a tee. The energy he brings with his playing is incredible. And he’s just the best dude ever.
We are so grateful to welcome Chase, his wife, Maggie, and daughter, Callie, into the Hammertowne family.”
Bennett joins Carroll on guitar, Chaston Carroll on mandolin, Scott Tackett on guitar, Steven Ivey on fiddle, and Bryan Russell.
The summer season may be halfway over, but there are still plenty of opportunities to catch Hammertowne out and about in 2026. Chase will make his official debut with Hammertowne this Saturday night in Olive Hill Kentucky at the fourth annual Orange Army Bluegrass Festival.
