Wimmen’s Hats from Del and Woody

It’s a double dose of Del and Woody this afternoon at Bluegrass Today!

The Del McCoury Band is going all out to spread the word about their latest CD, a unique collaboration between Del and the late Woody Guthrie. This morning we had an interview with Del about the new project, and the unique experience of co-writing with the iconic folk artist across the veil of death.

This afternoon, we have video for one of the songs from the album, Woody’s ode to ladies’ fashionable headgear in the 1940s, Wimmen’s Hats.

The McCoury’s have posted several other similar videos with music from Del and Woody on their YouTube page. It’s a great way to get a taste of the new music before the album is released on Friday.

Here’s one more, a song Guthrie wrote about working on a prison road gang called Government Roads, which Del turned into a bluegrass waltz.
