Bluegrass Music Exhibit in Owensboro next month

Event Details

Bluegrass Music Exhibit in Owensboro, KY

The Owensboro Art Guild in Owensboro, KY, will host its second annual Bluegrass Music Exhibit June 7-28, in the lobby of the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Owensboro/Waterfront. The exhibit, which is planned to coincide with the popular ROMP Festival, will feature a variety of artistic interpretations of bluegrass music, including painting, sculptures, photography, and more.

Last year’s inaugural event proved extremely popular, with some artists even finding buyers for their work. Art on display included a giant metal banjo, paintings of instruments and local and national bluegrass artists, and even handcrafted jewelry. The Hampton Inn’s downtown location, just steps away from the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, helped bring in bluegrass fans, as well as those attending other city events. The exhibit’s organizers hope the same will be true this year.

As of now, submissions to the exhibit are only open to the members of the Owensboro Art Guild, although the organization hopes to open submissions to the public in the future, or even eventually turn it into a juried art show. The idea for the bluegrass music-themed exhibit actually came from a juried art show focused on blues music held by the WC Handy Blues Festival in Henderson, KY.

The Art Guild will be accepting submissions for the exhibit through June 1. Those interested in submitting a piece can register online or by mail. Once the show opens, visitors will be able to drop in at any time of day to view the pieces, and there is no admission fee.

The Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown/Waterfront is located at 401 W 2nd St. in Owensboro. For more information on the art exhibit, visit the Owensboro Art Guild online or on Facebook.
