Joe Briggs is a bass player who has worked for many years in and around the acoustic, bluegrass and roots music scene along the east coast. He started out in Richmond, VA though he has made his home in Pittsburgh, PA for some time. In Virginia, he was a member of Leather Britches in the 1980s, and later with Bill Evans and Steve Smith in Cloud Valley. Joe has the distinction of preceding Missy Raines in that group.
Sadly, Joe is now quite ill, and friends are helping raise money to allow his wife, Cheri, to take some time away from work to care for him during the final stages of the cancer that is cutting short his life. Cheri is a recent cancer survivor, and their family resources do not allow her the freedom to take unpaid leave.
Here are two ways that Joe’s friends – and anyone else who may wish to lend a hand – can make a donation to this appeal.
Bill Evans is donating the proceeds from all sales of his current CD, In Good Company, to Joe and Cheri until the end of the month. Just place an order from Bill’s web site through February 1, and he will send all monies (after expenses) directly to Joe. He has several hundred doallrs set aside for them already.
