James King Shines At Tir Na Nog

Event Details

At a crowded Irish pub in the heart of downtown Raleigh, bluegrass fans of all kinds crammed into this earthy venue to see “The Bluegrass Storyteller.” A star-studded audience, including Noam Pikelny and Ken Irwin, were in for one of the best showcases of this week’s Bluegrass Ramble.

James King has been with Irwin and Rounder Records for two decades. James jokingly noted that they’ve been together “through thick and thin,” an allusion to the seventy-one pounds James has recently lost. James’ upcoming album, Three Chords & The Truth, will be released September 30th. A salute to some of James’ favorite country songs, the album is James’ first in five years.

The James King Band rocked the crowd at Tir Na Nog with songs off his new album. Classics such as He Stopped Loving Her Today and Chiseled In Stone resulted in roars from the crowd. The band rocked the house, and received a double encore and standing ovation.

If James’ performance is any indication, Three Chords & The Truth is liable to strike a “chord” with fans of traditional bluegrass.
