The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, VA is officially launching its new radio service today at 5:00 p.m. with a live radio broadcast from the museum.
WBCM will be broadcasting in the region at 100.1 FM, with the signal also available online and via the official app for iOS and Android devices. Streams will be offered for both Radio Bristol Americana, playing modern recordings of all varieties of traditional country, bluegrass, old time, folk, and blues music, and Radio Bristol Classic, which will feature the archived transcriptions of the people who created these sounds from the early days of recorded music forward.
This afternoon’s launch show will feature performances by Folk Soul Revival, Corbin Hayslett, and Ed Snodderly. To listen, either download the free WBCM app, or visit their web site at www.birthplaceofcountrymusic.org.
Once they go live at 5:00 p.m., the streams will broadcast 24/7. There is no fee to listen, but the museum will gratefully accept donations to help support their mission of preserving and promoting the music that go its start there in 1927.
The museum also hosts special events throughout the year. Both Steep Canyon Rangers and IIIrd Tyme Out will be doing album launch concerts there over the next ten days.
