Mountain Faith to the semifinals on AGT

Mountain Faith Band - photo by Virginia Sherwood/NBCIf you didn’t catch America’s Got Talent’s results show last night, there was great news for bluegrass fans.

Mountain Faith Band achieved the votes required to make it through to the semifinals. So instead of heading home to Sylva, NC and papa Sam McMahan’s tire shop where they all work, it’s another week of living the life in New York City preparing for a return appearance on Tuesday next week.

In addition to building a national following for their bright, peppy brand of bluegrass, the band is opening the eyes and ears of millions of NBC viewers to the sounds of banjos and fiddles in pop music. That is a great service to our music, win or lose.

Of course, each week they stay in the competition, they showcase bluegrass to even more people – and inch ever closer to claiming the grand prize of $1 million!

Best of luck to Summer McMahan, Brayden McMahan, Sam McMahan, Cory Piatt, and Luke Dotson.
