Jim & Valerie Gabehart have announced Steve Acord as the newest member of their band, playing mandolin and singing harmony vocals.
Acord hails from Beckley, WV and has performed professionally as a mandolinist, fiddler and guitarist. He has worked with a number of groups over the years, beginning with his father and brothers in the Acord Family, and in more recent years The Jeanette Williams Band and Stacy Grubb.
Jim Gabehart tells us that Steve’s vocal range runs from low bass to tenor, and will be a fine addition to their trios and quartets. In fact, he had worked previously with Jim and Valerie as a member of Steadfast until work commitments forced him to leave the group.
“We’re happy to again have the opportunity to work with Steve.
With the addition of Buckwheat Green last fall, and now with Steve, we are busy assembling the material for our next recording project, and have begun performing several new compositions of mine and Buck’s, which are getting great crowd response.”
