New single from Breaking Grass

Running With The Moon - Breaking GrassBreaking Grass has dropped a single from their upcoming album, three weeks ahead of its July 31 release date.

The single is for the title track, Running With The Moon, written by guitarist and lead singer Cody Farrar. This is the second, self-produced project from this northern Mississippi band, which also includes Tyler White on fiddle, Thelton Vanderford on banjo, Zach Wooten on mandolin, and Britt Sheffield on bass.

Theirs is an aggressive, contemporary bluegrass sound, built around Farrar’s voice and original songs.

Sam Bush Band guitarist and noted Nashville producer/engineer Stephen Mougin worked with the guys in the studio, and has mighty high praise for their musicianship and vision.

“I had the pleasure of working with Breaking Grass as producer and engineer on their last two albums. I encouraged them to use Running With The Moon as the title cut for this CD because I believe it highlights all of the things they do really well.

If there ever was a song that portrayed the story through sound, this is it. The tune explodes into a fantastic, tight, driving bluegrass groove that supports the fine vocals of front-man (and composer) Cody Farrar, and it really captures the energy of the band and proclaims their readiness to take on the music world!

They have matured from a hot-pickin’ local band, to a tight ensemble that draws musical ideas from the lyrical content. That’s not to say they’ve given up on the hot-pickin’ – the spectacular trading solos near the end of the song showcase what great pickers they are!”
