Movement and Location live

punchDaylight Savings Time starts this weekend, and while digital clocks and appliances have made re-setting less of an issue, the advent of the time change does still herald a number of important milestones.

It means that college basketball is coming to a head, and major league baseball is just around the corner. As sure a sign of Spring as any crocus or flowering quince! It also indicates that bluegrass festival season is nigh, and that is surely something to celebrate.

Thinking about baseball brings my mind to one of the songs on the latest Punch Brothers CD, Movement and Location. As any fan of the game will recognize, those two words describe what any successful pitcher has to master to keep batters guessing, and Chris Thile has been quoted as saying that he wrote the song with the great Greg Maddox in mind.

Here’s a live version of the song recorded for Minnesota Public Radio. Despite the guys’ winter duds, be assured that Spring is on the way!
