Joe Briggs passes

briggsJust a few days ago we mentioned the efforts by Bill Evans and others to raise funds for the family of Joe Briggs, a bass player who had worked throughout Virginia and Pennsylvania since the 1980s.

At the time, Joe was in the final stages of his battle with cancer, and the fundraising effort was to ameliorate the costs of his wife taking time away from work to care for him in hospice.

Today we learn from Bill that Briggs’ battle is over.

“I have some very sad news to share: Joe passed away this morning, at home peacefully with friends and loved ones at his side. I am sure that his wife Cheri has expenses which need to be met, so I am still donating all online CD sales proceeds through February 1st.”
