Clint Hurd to Newtown

NewTown has announced that Clint Hurd has joined the band on mandolin, taking the spot vacated by James Kee when he departed at the end of 2012. Clint has done a pair of shows with the band, and will be with them going forward.

He joins founder Kati Penn on fiddle, Jr. Williams on banjo, CJ Cain on guitar and Terry Poirier on bass.

The band says that they are delighted with their newest member.

Clint Hurd“After a long search, many auditions and making many new friendships, we have found our new mandolin player!

Clint Hurd is no stranger to bluegrass and acoustic music, having been a member of such bands as, Cumberland Gap Connection, Rough Edges Band and The Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley Band. He is a great singer, fantastic mandolin player with all the chops, and a great guy to travel with. We look forward to hitting the road with this capable young man and making alot of great music!

We have a new record in the works and are excited about getting in the studio!”

And Hurd is equally happy to come aboard.

This band is very, very strong both vocally and instrumentally. With much of their own original material, NewTown’s unique sound has the ability to reach a very broad audience.

Thanks to Jr, Kati, Terry, and CJ for allowing me this opportunity. I am very excited, as the future holds many great things for this band!”

Keep up with the band’s comings and goings online.
