Roys to Aussie and UK TV

In addition to their ongoing preparations for a 30-minute musical variety show for ValCom Studios, The Roys have been tapped to host 7 episodes of Bluegrass Mountains for CJM Productions. The new show will debut tomorrow (5/1) in New Zealand on Country 99 TV, and will begin airing in June on CMC Australia, and on Sky TV in the UK.

Bluegrass Mountains will be dedicated to bluegrass music videos, showing both new and existing features from established artists like Rhonda Vincent, Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss, mixed with videos from popular bluegrass acts and up-and-comers. The other six episodes in the first 13 are hosted by Marty Raybon and The Grascals.

Executive Producer Jeff Moseley from CJM says that this show fits right in with their other syndicated offerings, like Inside Music Row and Music Row Profiles.

“This is a natural extension to our other music-based programming. Bluegrass is an incredible and underserved music genre, so this is a win-win situation for all of us and the fans.”

The Roys’ segments were shot in Lee Roy’s recording studio, where he and sister Elaine share their thoughts and insights about the videos being presented on the show. Producer/Director Brian Covert said that this was part of their plan.

“Having entertainers host the show gives viewers opportunities to hear stories about the videos that they otherwise would not. That gives fans a very personal and intimate insight.”

Roots And Music With The Roys is expected to launch in the Fall of 2012, with more than 120 stations already signed on. This show also has a bluegrass/Americana theme, with live performances, festival highlights and general interest segments included each week.

They talk a bit about their new status as TV stars in this recent interview.

Further details about Roots And Music With The Roys should be available soon.
