We reported over the weekend that banjo legend J.D. Crowe was taken ill during a show Friday night, and had to leave the stage.
Fortunately for the audience and the band, Josh Williams was in the house, and hopped up to take over banjo duties for the remainder of the show.
Crowe’s representative, Mike Drudge, filled us in on what actually happened, and how he is doing.
“J.D. has been battling pneumonia for a couple weeks. He bounced back and was feeling a bit better last week but when he played the Station Inn date he was feeling pretty bad. He played through the first set but was just too ill to play the second set.
He went back to Lexington the following morning, and is on medication to address the pneumonia.”
