Steeldrivers in USA Today

Event Details

The Steeldrivers - RecklessUSA Today is running a story about five musical artists they feel are “under the radar” at the Grammys this year. One of their picks is bluegrass’ own Steeldrivers.

The story features a short introduction to the band, giving a brief glimpse of the band’s genesis, and highlighting the credentials of several of the band members. Here are the opening lines.

The SteelDrivers were supposed to be a hobby band.

Initially formed as a way for a bunch of Nashville pros to “keep their bluegrass chops up,” says mandolinist Mike Henderson, the band’s hard-edged, soulful sound quickly made them one of bluegrass’ top acts. Second album Reckless earned Grammy nods for best bluegrass album and best country performance by a duo/group (for Where Rainbows Never Die).
