Through his daughter, Jody, we have learned that renowned fiddler and bluegrass personality, Tex Logan, is in very poor health. He has been hospitalized for much of April with a variety of issues, but has just recently suffered a heart attack and is experiencing kidney failure.
Jody’s concern is that Tex is refusing dialysis, and she fears that he may not survive more than a few days without treatment. He is 88 years of age.
Logan was not only a stellar fiddler and entertainer during his working life, but also a noted electrical engineer and researcher who was a pioneer in the early days of computer science and digital audio.
In bluegrass, he is remembered for performing with Bill Monroe, and for many years with The Lilly Brothers and Don Stover. For Monroe, he contributed one of his compositions, Christmas Time’s A’ Coming, perhaps the most definitive holiday number in bluegrass. Later in his career, he also worked with Peter Rowan.
Jody would certainly appreciate prayers and well wishes as she negotiates her dad and his illness.
