Suzanna Barnes to Missy Werner Band

Suzanna BarnesMissy Werner has announced the addition of fiddler and vocalist Suzanna Barnes to her band.

Like Missy, Suzanna was born and raised in the Cincinnati area, where southern Ohio and northern Kentucky meet. She started a study of music as a very young child, and continued through a bachelor’s degree from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

Around town, Barnes is a popular instructor, and is certified to train using Mark O’Connor’s method. In the wider music world, she is the author of several Mel Bay titles for fiddle and mandolin.

Missy is very pleased to have her in the group.

“I am delighted that Suzanna is joining us. She is a versatile musician, she adds an entirely new facet to our sound, and I look forward to working with her. Her work ethic in preparation for our CD release events has been exceptional, and I know she will fit right in. We are all very pleased for her to come aboard.”

This marks the first time the Missy Werner Band has officially become a five piece unit, and Barnes is glad to be the one.

“I love playing bluegrass music and am thrilled to be a part of the band.”

In addition to Missy on mandolin and Suzanna on fiddle, the band consists of Tim Strong on guitar, Jeff Roberts on banjo, and Artie Werner on bass.

You can follow their touring schedule online, where you can also find out more about their newly-released CD, Turn This Heart Around.
