Sam Bush throws a strike

Sam Bush, noted mandolinist and vocalist, bandleader, session player, icon and iconoclast, had the chance to focus Wednesday night on his other primary passion – baseball.

The long time St. Louis Cardinals fan was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Busch Stadium on June 5. Not only did Sam hurl it right down the pike, it was his favorite player, Ozzie Smith, who caught the pitch.

Well done, Mr. Bush.

Sam had the chance to meet Ozzie before the game, and reports that he lived up to the image Sam had created in his mind.

“Ozzie Smith is a hero of mine, and possibly the most gracious man that I’ve ever met. Circles around me; sometimes dreams do come true. I’m the king of my world.”

Sounds like a good night at the ball park.
