Ricky Skaggs does The Voice

Event Details

Emily Ann Roberts and Ricky Skaggs

Last night, Ricky Skaggs was a special guest on NBC television’s hit singing competition show, The Voice. It was the finale program of the ninth season, and Ricky was invited following a statement by competitor Emily Ann Roberts that he was the only singing star she would really like to duet with.

Roberts has become a fan favorite this season, and was the sole remaining female artist for 2015, and the youngest at only 17. Country music lovers had especially taken her to heart for her energetic performances.

So Skaggs came on to do a version of his 1985 #1 hit, Country Boy, complete with Albert Lee-influenced acoustic guitar. He and Emily Ann sang it duet style in fine fashion.

Unfortunately, Roberts ultimately lost out to Jordan Smith, who was crowned the 2015 champion. But one expects that someone in Nashville will reach out with a contract for an artist who’s become this popular on TV.
