Phil Leadbetter to Atlanta Country Music HoF

Phil Leadbetter

Phil Leadbetter, award-winning bluegrass reso-guitarist and everyone’s favorite Uncle Phil, was inducted over the weekend into the Atlanta Country Music Hall Of Fame. Though born in Knoxville in 1962, Phil lived in Atlanta as a boy.

These awards have been in distributed since they were founded in 1982 to recognize country music artists who are connected to Georgia by birth, past residence, or having a significant career in the state.

Phil made the trip to accept his induction in person on November 28, and was honored to accept it on stage. He reports having had a rough week following medical treatment in Nashville on Wednesday, but rebounded on Thanksgiving day and was able to travel to Atlanta. His treatment is to contain a third emergence non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
