Nora Jane Struthers, Bearfoot’s sultry lead singer, is using Kickstarter as a crowd sourcing tool to raise funds for an upcoming solo project.
She tells us that she has a core group of songs written, and is working now on arrangements.
I caught up with Nora Jane yesterday, and she filled in a few details about the album…
“I am thrilled to be working with Brent Truitt (newest member of The Steeldrivers) again as my producer. Brent produced my self-titled, debut record and Bearfoot’s most recent release, American Story. We are planning to record at his studio in East Nashville this October.
I am planning to record primarily with the musicians who will go on the road with me in my solo backing band, Nora Jane Struthers & The Bootleggers, and get a few special guests as well.
I’ve learned so much since I recorded my debut album; I really cannot wait to get back in the studio.”
Here’s the video Struthers created for Kickstarter.
Nora Jane was a bit cryptic about which musicians would be tracking with her, as the makeup of The Bootleggers fluctuates, a common status with part-time endeavors. But she did venture one name, P. J. George.
“P.J. plays bass in The Bootleggers and joined Bearfoot when I did. He is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist and I am looking forward to showing him off in this record.”
Her budget on Kickstarter is quite ambitious, but in three days she has raised nearly $3300 of the $20,000 goal from 66 backers. Not too shabby.
