Adam’s Steffey’s new solo project, New Primitive, is out today on Organic Records, a newly-resurrected imprint of Crossroads Music.
Most folks think of Adam as a bluegrass boy, from his time with such noted acts as Lonesome River Band, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Mountain Heart, The Dan Tyminski Band, and now, The Boxcars. But this new album finds him exploring the old time roots of the music on 13 tracks, split roughly in half between band and duet performances, ending with a solo mandolin piece.
Organic put together this introductory video to explain a bit about the project, who is involved, and how it sounds.
We’ll have more to say about this fine recording in the coming days.
Audio samples can be found on Steffey’s site, and in iTunes.
