The Fossil Creek Band, from northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, is pleased to welcome two new members as they prepare for a swing through the southern US starting this weekend.
Gil Evans has joined the group on bass, as has Darrell Wagner on fiddle. Evans is brother to another prominent grasser, Ernie Evans, of the Florida State Bluegrass Band, also widely known as a festival promoter in the Florida/Georgia region. Wagner is a long time fiddler, coming back to music after taking several years away from road work.
They join other current members Jan Hudson on banjo, Dave (Alan) Borkowski on guitar, and Tom Galbraith on mandolin. Their most recent release is Waitin’ On The Daylight from 2015. Original bluegrass music written with the band is their focus.
Fossil Creek’s southern tour will take them to Galax, VA; Knoxville, TN; Savannah, GA; and St. Augustine, DeLand, and Gainesville, FL. Monday (May 2) will feature a noontime performance on WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, which can be heard worldwide online.
Full details about their upcoming jaunt through the deep south, and all their other live appearances, can be found on the band web site.
