Never Tell Me video from Stoney Creek

Memories & Tears - Stoney Creek Bluegrass BandWest Virginia’s Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band greets the Thanksgiving week with a new music video featuring one of the songs on their current album, Memories & Tears. This record is special to the band, as it includes eleven originals written by the sister of Stoney Creek vocalist Libby Files, the late Deanna Stottlemyer.

This new single, Never Tell Me, is one Deanna wrote before she passed and Libby tells us that recording her sister’s songs was her way of dealing with losing her.

“Some of them she sang in her band, but then my mom gave me a stack of songs that she wrote and said ‘why don’t you do something with these?’ So that’s what I did. I give the guys credit; they’re all singing on it with me. It’s a project that I started mainly for my mom and dad; that’s why I called it Memories & Tears. I wanted to get all of my sister’s music on a CD for them. There are 11 songs on the project – six are Gospel songs and five are traditional bluegrass. I tried to keep them with a traditional flavor.”

In addition to Libby, the band includes Brett Smeltzer on mandolin, Kenton Catlett on guitar, and Troy Stangle on banjo.
