Rural Rhythm has released a single from their upcoming Tall Grass & Cool Water CD by Michael Martin Murphey. The album continues Michael’s recent explorations combining bluegrass with cowboy music.
This first single is Murphey’s arrangement of the familiar outlaw ballad, Jesse James, part of a James Gang Trilogy included on the new project, due for release on June 28.
Rendered here as The Ballad Of Jesse James, Michael pays homage to James’ heritage as a soldier of the Confederacy in the Civil War during the a capella introduction, before launching into the song proper.
