Michael Cleveland signs with Compass Records

Compass Records has today announced that bluegrass fiddle phenom Michael Cleveland has signed with the label. He and his band, Flamekeeper, will start work later this year on a new project, expected for a 2014 release.

Michael sees this as a good move in his career.

Mike Cleveland“I’m so excited to be working with everyone at Compass Records! I think this opportunity will help introduce our music to people that might not have heard us before, and also keep our long-time fan base coming back for more.”

We’ll report further details on this next CD as we learn them.

What’s the lineup for that band these days? So much turnover in the past few years…hopefully they can maintain the stability necessary to take advantage of this opportunity!

    • Braeden Paul

To answer Darren’s question, the current lineup is

      Michael Cleveland-fiddle
      Glenn Gibson-banjo/dobro
      Nathan Livers-mandolin
      Josh Richards-guitar
      Tyler Griffith-bass

Honestly, I feel that this was a fantastic move for the band. I know they did have a bit of a rough time after Jesse Brock, Tom Adams and Marshall Wilborn left the group. There were also a few years where it was hard for Mike to keep a steady lineup. The current one has been incredibly stable so they should have no problem being able to maintain it in order to record their first album for Compass.

Thanks, Braeden! Hopefully the storms have passed…

Dang! It’s like all the cool kids/bands (minus Della Mae) are on Compass now! Neat-o!
