Mason Crone to Chris Davis Band

Event Details

Mason Crone

Chris Davis has announced the addition of Mason Crone playing banjo with his new band. Davis is launching a full time solo career in the wake of Joe Mullins’ retirement from active touring. Chris had been playing mandolin with Joe and The Radio Ramblers, and prior to that, with The Grascals, Junior Sisk, Marty Raybon, and others.

Only 22 years of age, Mason has already showed himself to be both a fine bluegrass banjo man, and a clever entrepreneur on the business side. He has a popular YouTube channel and Patreon site where he offers banjo instruction and tablature for common songs and tunes.

And that’s exactly where Chris discovered him.

“I found Mason online as many do these days. I loved his picking so I contacted him.

Mason has that fire in his belly that almost all serious musicians do. Happy to have him!”

Crone says that he too is happy to be involved.

“I’m really excited to be joining Chris Davis and his new band. Chris’s history with the Grascals and Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers speaks for itself, and this new group is already incredibly solid. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and excited to grow musically as part of such a strong, forward-thinking band.”

You’ll see Mason on stage with Chris and his band after January 2 of next year, where he’ll join Davis on mandolin, Swanagen Ray on guitar, and Zach Collier on bass.

Tour dates for the Chris Davis Band can be seen online. New music from Billy Blue Records is expected soon.
