Luke Abbott – Take Me Home

Here’s an album  from 2010 that I had meant to mention some time ago, Luke Abott’s fine collection of mountain music, performed in the old time way on Take Me Home.

Abbott plays banjo, guitar and fiddle as accompaniment for his voice on 15 familiar, time-worn classics. All of the tracks were recorded live in the studio, without overdubs, nicely showcasing this young musician and his ample skills as a preservationist and interpreter of American folk music.

The simplicity of the arrangements make for a relaxing and rewarding listening experience, as demonstrated in his version of this 19th century ballad.

Additional audio samples can be found on Luke’s site, and in iTunes. Great stuff.
