Our Spanish bluegrass friends, The Cubero Brothers, contacted us recently to share a new music video, and to let us know that their latest album, Flor de Canciones, was available through CD Baby.
The brothers, Roberto and Enrique, are native Spaniards with a serious interest in bluegrass music. Roberto is an accomplished mandolinist, with a strong grounding in the Monroe and McReynolds styles, and Enrique is a flatpicker. Together they have developed a unique hybrid, using bluegrass instrumental techniques to perform traditional Castilian folk music.
You can see what I mean in this video of the title track, which translates roughly to “Flower of Songs.”
Samples from all 13 tracks can be heard at CD Baby.
