Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome consists of Jeff Brown, Austin Brown, Josh Blankenship, Josh Underwood and Kyle Murphy.
Jeff began playing at the very young age of nine. He and his brother formed the Richlands Bluegrass Boys performing at festivals, fairs, Churches, family reunions etc. In 1993, Jeff started to work for the legendary Larry Sparks as bass player and tenor singer. Jeff worked as a Lonesome Rambler from 1993 to 1996. He continued to play various dates and recording projects until forming Still Lonesome. Jeff has performed on many famous stages such as: the Grand Ole Opry at the world famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Tennessee, along with the television shows Austin City Limits in Austin Texas and Song of the Mountains on PBS. One notable, while performing with Sparks at the Carter Fold in Hiltons Virginia, Jeff was ask to play bass for Johnny Cash along with his wife June Carter Cash. Jeff currently serves as Coordinator and Co-Chair of the Richlands Freedom Festival. Jeff served as the director of the Traditional Music Program at Southwest Virginia Community College. Jeff also served as Coordinator and Co-Chair for the Virginia Mountain Music Festival and the Mountain Music Jamboree. Jeff serves on the musicianÛªs board with The Crooked Road. Jeff also toured with The Charlie Sizemore Band and has pulled fill in duties with the band Blue Highway and Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Jesse McReynolds and many more. Jeff is looking forward to his next chapter in Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music.
Austin Brown now 16 years old has been playing guitar and bass since the age 3. He will be a sophomore. In addition to music, he loves football and fishing. AustinÛªs music influences are Ralph Stanley, Tony Rice, Wyatt Rice, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Blue Highway, Larry Sparks, Barry Bales, D. Sparks, and many others.
Josh Blankenship is a very talented mandolin player, song writer and vocalist. He is from Floyd VA. He has performed with Statement and The Watkins Family. .
Josh Underwood is also from Floyd VA. He is a very talented banjo player, song writer and vocalist. He has performed with bands such as Statement, Makeshift, No Speed Limit and others.
Kyle Murphy is very talented fiddle player, mandolin player and song writer originally from Culver City, California. He grew up around bluegrass music, playing with his dad and sister in The Murphy Family Band from a very young age. Since then he has gone on to play with the ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band and is the newest member of Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome.
