Folk Alliance International (FAI) has a mission:
To nurture, engage and empower the international folk music community ÛÓ traditional and contemporary, amateur and professional ÛÓ through education, advocacy and performance.
Since 1989, FAI has provided advocacy, support, networking, showcase opportunities and professional development services for the international folk music community.
With more than 3000 members worldwide, the annual conference is one of the five largest music conferences in North America (and one of the friendliest).
Members of FAI include individuals, organizations and businesses. The conference draws over 2500 artists, presenters, agents, managers, music support services reps, manufacturers, record companies, publishers, radio DJs, funders and others that work in the folk music field.
FAI has five regional affiliates that provide conferences and services in their respective markets.
FAI is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Kansas City, MO.
