Lonesome and Then Some is truly an album we’ve been waiting 50 years to hear. It’s Larry Sparks’ 50th anniversary record, and it’s coming August 5 from Rebel Records.
You may remember the superb 40 album, released to coincide with Larry’s 40th year in music, and another ten years looks to have added even more grace to his voice. Joining him this time are Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Curly Seckler, Bobby Osborne, Jesse McReynolds, and Judy Marshall.
A first single from the album is released today. It’s called Bitterweeds, and Rebel put together this video to introduce it.
The song was written by Barabara Wilkinson and Sonya Wood, and Larry says he loved it from the start.
“Bitterweeds was a picture painted in words. I knew I could sing the song, and I knew I could paint a picture that myself and others could see. The song seems real to me because the story can really happen.”
Radio programmers will receive information soon from Rebel about how to download the track for airplay.
Bitterweeds can be purchased now in iTunes.
