Blue Highway’s Tim Stafford has released a debut single from his upcoming album, Just To Hear The Whistle Blow. It’s the title track, which tells of the sort of regrets that may occur in middle age.
Joining Tim on guitar and lead vocal on this song he wrote with Steve Gulley are Ron Stewart on banjo, Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Barry Bales on bass, and Adam Steffey on mandolin. Gulley adds harmony vocals.
The rest of the album is also built around songs that Tim has written, or co-written with Steve Gulley, Barry Bales, Bobby Starnes, Alan Stockard, or Jon Weisberger.
Just To Hear The Whistle Blow is set for an early July release, and pre-orders are being accepted now from Tim’s web site. The single can be downloaded now by radio programmers at Airplay Direct.
You might think of 2014 as the Summer of Blue Highway solo projects, with both Rob Ickes and Shawn Lane having albums nearly completed as well. We’ll have more on those over the next few days.
