Jayme Stone – Room of Wonders

Event Details

Award-winning Canadian banjoist Jayme Stone has a new CD, Room of Wonders, which features his take on traditional dance music from all across the globe.

He is assisted by Casey Driessen on fiddle, Grant Gordy on guitar and Greg Garrison on bass, who form his core band. Jayme says that the music is drawn from what he has heard and experienced in Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Bulgaria, Italy and his native North America.

Audio samples are available in iTunes and CD Baby, but Jayme has gone a step further, and posted live video performances of the songs from the CD. Here is Ways Of The World, a grassy tune with a rhythmic twist.

Another beautiful track is Jayme’s transcription of the first movement (Allemande) of JS Bach’s Suite No. 6 in E major, BWV 817. This is the last of Bach’s French Suites, composed for harpsichord in the early 18th century, which Stone has arranged for banjo and bass.

More videos are posted on Jayme’s web site.

Room Of Wonder is available on CD in Canada, but has not yet been released in the US. It can be ordered online from CD Baby, however, and downloaded from iTunes.

Great stuff!
