Good news from Ernie Evans

Event Details

Good news coming in from Ernie Evans in Florida, who has been treated of late for the bladder cancer which was diagnosed back in November. The bluegrass entertainer and festival promoter had a pair of cancerous growths removed surgically last year, which was followed by post operative treatment.

After a few months of BCG therapy, Ernie has released this wonderfully encouraging statement:

Ernie Evans“I just got word from my Dr. regarding the results from my last round of testing. The results show no new growth of cancer…. I will still be under care and close watch with tests and Dr. visits but for now, I am just HAPPY to be getting my life back. I wanted to let everyone know and thank you for all of the encouragement and support you have given to me and my family. We are now working on a schedule for Dr. appointments but at the same time, living up every minute of life we can.

Now, please pay attention to your body and get checkups!!! I don’t want anyone going through this if they can help it. If you want to know what it is like, I will be happy to tell you privately but I promise it won’t be pretty…. LOL Catching this stuff in time is vital, just do it. I don’t want to lose any one of you to this #$%&.

I would love to say I am “Cancer FREE” but my Dr. won’t let me. Let’s just say it won’t be long….

Love you all, Ernie”

Bluegrass fans know Evans from his time with Valerie Smith’s band, with his own Florida State Bluegrass Band (along with his wife Debi), from his weekly radio program, The Sunday Afternoon Breakdown, and as the manager/promoter of a number of bluegrass festivals in the Sunshine State.

He is back performing with the band, and doing well. Great news!
