Lorraine Jordan and Julie King have agreed to send along a bluegrass travelogue this week from the First Quality Bluegrass Cruise, underway now in the Caribbean. To read all of their reports, just follow this link.
When heading down to any of the Carribean Islands, there is always a ‘Fun Day At Sea.’ Fun day indeed.
Today, the music started in the Burgundy Lounge of Deck 5 Aft at 1:00 p.m., and lasted until 5:00. Many bands played today including our host band, The Buegrass Mountaineers, along with Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road, Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show. James King even sang a few with Lorraine.
Tonight’s main dining room attire was Cruise Elegant. Fine dining at its best!
Around the music, time was spent by all today, attending the many different activities and seminars that the ship has to offer. Many took advantage of today’s great deals in the onboard shops, and various spa treatments. For anyone that’s never been on a bluegrass cruise, please understand that there is so much that your cruise line has to offer to keep busy, and the bluegrass is something added to every evening, or as in today’s case, a daytime concert.
We look forward to the first port of the journey, Cozumel, Mexico on Tuesday. There are a group of us from the ship that decided to tour the island via moped.
We had choppy waters all day with a 65 mph headwind. Tonight, it’s smooth sailing for us, unlike many that have perrished during Hurricane Sandy. All of our bodies are at sea, but our hearts are at home in the USA, with the thousands now affected by this great storm. Many passangers’ vacations were cut short, now wondering if they too will have a home when this journey ends.
So long for now from the high seas,
Julie King
