Southern Maryland Bluegrass at the Elks-High Fidelity

The Southern Maryland Bluegrass at the Elks series brings us High Fidelity Bluegrass band on Sunday March 3, 2024, at the Calvert Elks Lodge #2620 in Prince Frederick, MD. The doors will open at Noon and the performance will start at 2:00 PM. Cuzin’s N Harmony will open the show.
Many folks remember the Bluegrass records from the 1950s and ‘60s. The power and soul of that music has won the hearts of people across the globe. Only a few bands have come along in recent years that draw their influence from that classic era of music’s history. High Fidelity is a group that has a love and dedication to that style. The name alone says it all: “HIGH FIDELITY”! Many record albums from the ‘50s and ‘60s bears those words.
Shortly after their formation in early 2014, the group took 1st place in the International Band Championship at the Annual “Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America” (SPBGMA) Awards that same year.
The band consists of five outstanding musicians and singers who are steeped in the sounds of tradition. Jeremy Stephens, guitarist and lead vocalist for the group, who also plays the banjo has worked for the world-famous gospel group The Chuck Wagon Gang, on the television show Ray Stevens’ Nashville, and most recently with Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys. Corrina Rose Logston, fiddler and harmony vocalist, has worked with many of today’s traditional-based Bluegrass performers including songwriter, Jim Laurderdale. Kurt Stephenson also handles banjo duties and harmony vocals. He comes from the greater west Tennessee area. Vickie Vaughn, who recently won the 2023 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Bass Player of the Year plays upright bass and contributes vocals. Vickie has worked in recent years with Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs. Multi-instrumentalist and harmony vocalist, Daniel Amick plays guitar and mandolin and is a recipient of IBMA’s 2019 Instrumentalist of the Year Momentum Award.
If you like the sound of traditional Bluegrass music of the 1st generation performers like Don Reno & Red Smiley, The Stanley Brothers, The Louvin Brothers, and Jim & Jesse, then High Fidelity is a group is not to be missed. They put on a pure and clean sounding show that draws much of their inspiration from the forementioned bands as well as a host of many more artists from the same era. They have been described as the new Johnson Mountain Boys. High Fidelity is so warmly received and widely loved by every audience they perform for.
As an addition to the show, Cuzin’s N Harmony (cousins Jay Armsworthy and Woody Norris along with Troy Jones) will open the show as they celebrate the release of their long-awaited CD.
The show takes place on Sunday March 3 at 2 PM. The Calvert Elks Lodge is located at 1015 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick, MD. Tickets will be $23.00 per person and sold at the door beginning at Noon. Children under 12 are admitted free with a paying adult.
