Bluegrass Safari – Guitar & music camp with David Grier

The Bluegrass Safari Guitar and music camp takes place each November in the heart of the South-African bush. Our aim is to bring the world’s very best Bluegrass players to the South-African bush to create the most unforgettable music camp imaginable. With this unique setting in the African bush, wild animals roaming freely just outside the camp, and world class Guitar instruction, this will prove to be a once in a life time experience. Rio Dos Elefantes: Rio dos Elefantes river camp is magnificently proportioned on the Olifants and the Blyderivier. The camp is situated on the northern bank of the Olifants river in the Balule Nature Reserve and forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. The camp, on a rise above the river, lies surrounded by sprawling lawns and is dwarfed by huge indigenous trees. The river, which shelters a great many aquatic creatures such as hippo and crocodiles, is also a haven for the many antelope species, elephant and the inevitable carnivores found in these parts. For bird lovers, the abundance of water, as well as giant trees, harbours a wide variety of birds, from the magnificent Fish Eagle to the smallest marsh dweller. This year we have the Master picker – David Grier as our instructor. The Bluegrass Safari experience is a company run by South-Africans who love Bluegrass music. We would love to invite the world to come and share in this most unique experience. Email us for further info. info@downyonder.co.za
