Appaloosa Roots Music Festival is a three-day festival that takes place Labor Day weekend in Front Royal, VA. Held at the scenic Skyline Ranch Resort, just five miles from the entrance of Skyline Drive and George Washington National Forest. The grounds provide a breathtaking backdrop for a roots music camping experience in the Shenandoah Valley.
We seek to find what is universal in music, providing a lineup and environment that mirror the beauty of the surrounding mountains. The festival truly has a communal feel and an atmosphere that leaves attendees and bands touched by a sense of togetherness, which is not easily found every day. From the outset, attendees are greeted by an environment which hearkens back to a sense of time-honored community. The main stage is made from reclaimed lumber and gives it the appearance of an old Virginia barn; this sets an organic tone for the roots music. Appaloosa’s beautiful venue, Skyline Ranch Resort, offers a range of on-site accommodations for attendees, from chalets and cabins to RVs and tent camping. All of these add to the sense of community, giving the festival the feel of a family reunion.
