EP 13 from Yonder Mountain next month

Event Details

YMSB EP '13Renegade grassers Yonder Mountain String Band are set to release a new project in October.

YMSB EP ’13 is a short-form, self-produced album recorded while the band was touring, booking studio time whenever and wherever the muse spoke. Its four tracks feature one song written by each band member, with help from Danny Barnes on one.

Yonder Mountain includes Jeff Austin on mandolin, Ben Kaufman on bass, Dave Johnston on banjo, and Adam Aijala on guitar. Though a full length project is expected at some point, the band says that their next move will be a series of EPs.

Johnston sums up their thinking this way:

Yonder Mountain String Band“I’m really excited about putting out the EP because it is a step in the right direction: working under our own creative control and intuition, being motivated to record on tour, and keeping an open dialogue about what we want out of our releases. The next EP could be songs we’ve never performed before. We could work with a producer. Fans can expect the unexpected!”

Look for YMSB EP ’13 on CD and vinyl October 8, and for digital download on the 15th. A tour kicks off on the 9th, and all the details can be found online.
