Driven from Matt Hayes

We got a note from Canadian fiddler, Matt Hayes, about his new release, Driven. The 20 year old has what appears to be a straight-ahead bluegrass album, mixed and mastered by banjo, fiddle, everything ace Ron Stewart – who also contributed liners.

Hayes shared some of the liner notes with us, and we won’t tell you all Ron had to say, but he did say this…

“Once in a while someone can make you stop in your tracks and take a listen, no matter what you’re doing, and Matt Hayes made me do just that.”

Matt uses strictly northern talent to fill the roster. Some of the more ‘hard-core’ bluegrass titles from the pending release include Little Girl of Mine in Tennessee, and Down in the Willow Garden, which I look forward to, coming from a young man living so far above the Mason-Dixon line. There’s also Hayes original, and one from Matt’s friend and banjo veteran Russell Sawler.

Keep an eye out for our review, but in the meantime, check out this teaser video he put together for the new CD.

Driven is available now from iTunes or CD Baby.
