Dave Vaught hospitalized this week

We received a note this week from Tim White, host of Song Of The Mountains on PBS, and member of popular Virginia/Tennessee band, The VW Boys. He notes that one of the members of the band has been ill.

Dave VaughtDave Vaught of the VW Boys was hospitalized on Wednesday, February 5th at Bristol, Tennessee’s Wellmont Hospital. He had some complications from a recent treatment for Barrett’s Esophagus which is pre-cancerous cells in his esophagus. Blood was found in his stomach from an irritated area in his esophagus from his most recent treatment.

Dave was experiencing weakness and other signs of complications early Wednesday morning. His wife, Wendy took him to the hospital where they admitted him. The doctors examined him and have treated the complication.

I visited him around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. He was very alert even though he was medicated for pain. He was joking and being his happy self as usual. We even called our bass player “Fat Albert” Blackburn on the phone and talked a while. He stayed the night and was released on Thursday. He is still weak, but getting better.

Dave wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. He is looking forward to a very busy 2014 with the VW Boys.

Cards may be sent to Dave at this address:
