Not too many new bands have the kind of first year that North Carolina’s ClayBank has enjoyed. Formed in 2015, the group placed 3rd in the 2016 SPBGMA International Band Championship in February, and took first place at the RenoFest band competition last month.
Videos of them on YouTube and Facebook have won them a healthy fanbase just since early this year, and today they have announced that The Andrea Roberts Agency in Nashville has taken on booking and management responsibilities for ClayBank.
Andrea works with some of the hottest acts in bluegrass, including The Grascals, Flatt Lonesome, Volume Five, and Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle. Flatt Lonesome, in particular, offers a lot of the credit for their rapid success to help from Andrea in charting their career, and ClayBank is hoping she can find them a similar level of respect.
Roberts says she fell hard for this band the first time she saw them play.
“When I saw this group perform live in Nashville earlier this year, I was so happy to hear a new, young band playing bluegrass music and representing the genre with such great respect and outstanding talent. Then, after getting to know the band members, I hoped that it may be possible for me to work with them because I really believe in what they are doing. I am thrilled to be helping ClayBank on their journey in the world of bluegrass. I truly feel that folks are going to love them!”
ClayBank is Zack Arnold on mandolin and lead vocals, Jacob Greer on guitar, Tyler Thompson on banjo, and Gary Trivette on bass. Neither Zack nor Jacob are yet old enough to vote, but already play and sing bluegrass like seasons pros.
