While visiting family, and attending the Brewer Family Reunion, Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers were given a personal tour of the Mapes Piano Wire Company on August 1. Mapes manufactures string wire in Elizabethton, TN and supply all sorts of wire to popular instrument string companies like GHS, D’Addario, Ernie Ball, Yamaha, and many others.
Mapes introduced their new line of Acoustic Phosphor Bronze Guitar strings to the band during their tour. While in the guitar string section of the factory, Gary found out that Larry Sparks purchased a big shipment that was about to be shipped. He thought it’d be funny to leave a note in one of Larry’s packages for him to find, so that’s just what he did, inserting a note that read, “Packed special by Gary Brewer for Larry Sparks.”
