Rounder Records has announced that an extra bonus track from Willie Nelson’s new Americana release, Country Music, will be bundled with all downloads in iTunes.
Country Music was released this week (4/20) and showcases the legendary performer in a rootsy, acoustic romp produced by T Bone Burnett. For the most part, the songs reflect Willie’s trademark laconic style, with the sort of minimalistic arrangements that Burnett championed in the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack, and for Raising Sand, the Alison Krauss and Robert Plant collaboration.
Songs include one Nelson original, Man With The Blues, and some familiar titles from folk, traditional country and bluegrass music like Dark As A Dungeon, Freight Train Boogie, Ocean Of Diamonds and I Am A Pilgrim. The bonus iTunes track is a new version of Cry, Cry Darlin, famously recorded previously by Bill Monroe, Sammy Kershaw and The Johnson Mountain Boys.
