Bill Monroe in the Big Apple

Event Details

Just in time for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the Owenboro-Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau has made a Bill Monroe ad buy for the huge digital billboard in New York’s Times Square.

The ad will run November 15 to January 1, which puts it up during the massive Times Square New Years Eve countdown as well. An image promoting the Bill Monroe 100th Birthday Celebration will be visible for 15 seconds, 18 times daily during that period. The projected cost of the campaign is $15,000.

The Convention & Visitors Bureau is promoting the many events occurring in Owensboro – also the home of the International Bluegrass Music Museum – during Monroe’s centennial birth month of September 2011. In addition to the web site they have created, there is also a Facebook page where you can keep up with all the Monroebilia.

Ah…  Kentucky in September.
