Becky Buller strikes out on her own

Becky BullerAfter a musical career as a sideman (sidewoman?) spanning 13 years, fiddler, banjo picker and singer/songwriter Becky Buller is fleeing the nest.

Her first solo project from Dark Shadow Recordings, ‘Tween Earth And Sky, is due to hit this Fall, and Buller has decided that now is the time to put her name out front as a bandleader. An announcement came yesterday that she is now accepting dates with her own four-piece band, a format that will debut August 13 on Music City Roots.

This is the annual MCR bluegrass show, following the IBMA award nominees press conference which starts at 5:45 p.m. (EDT). In addition to Buller and her group, performances are slated that night from Detour and Balsam Range, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The show is streamed live online.

Those in attendance at the IBMA’s World of Bluegrass next month in Raleigh will have a chance to catch Becky with her new sound during the Bluegrass Ramble showcases. She is an invited showcase act and will be performing several times throughout that week.

Becky tells us that she will play with special guests at Music City Roots and IBMA, and will announce the members of her touring group in the near future.

In the short term, she plans to continue working with Darin and Brooke Aldridge at least through the end of 2014.
