Announcing The Dave Adkins Trio

Dave AdkinsHere is a fascinating “power of social media” story regarding bluegrass vocalist Dave Adkins and an impromptu video he posted on Facebook over the weekend.

Dave had decided to put together a low-key trio with a couple of his friends, Richie Rose and David Taylor, to sing Gospel music at churches over the winter months when his band is less active. He shot a video of them running over the old Hank Williams classic, House Of Gold, and it spread like wildfire.

Since then, it’s been viewed on Facebook more than 27,000 times with nearly 750 shares. All this in just a few days, with no orchestrated efforts to promote it. Those numbers may seem paltry to a pop music audience with millions of potential viewers at the ready, but it’s plenty impressive in our bluegrass world with only organic virality at work.

Here’s a look at the video of Dave with Richie and David. It showcases Adkins’ powerhouse singing style, and the emotive impact of old time harmony.

Others have since been added to Adkins’ Facebook page.

Dave will be working a busy 2017 season with his Dave Adkins Band, a five-piece bluegrass outfit performing music from his several recent albums. Both the band, and his part-time side project with the Dave Adkins Trio, are represented by Moonstruck Management.
