Here’s another bluegrass Christmas tour getting ready to start up next month.
Circa Blue will be performing selections from their new Bells Of Home CD in a series of concerts centered around our nation’s capitol in December. Just as on the album, they will be accompanied by singer/songwriter Dawn Kenney, who has a writer’s credit on four of the album’s ten tracks.
In fact, three of the songs on Bells Of Home have racked up a total of seven nominations in the 22nd Annual Spirit Awards from Strictly Country magazine. The title track has three nominations (Spirit of Christmas, Spirit of America, and Song of the Year), and Candy Cane Sweetheart and Snowflake Or Two each have two (Spirit of Christmas, and Song of the Year). Online voting for these awards begins December 10.
In addition to these fine new Christmas bluegrass numbers, written by Kenney, along with David Morris, Cory Wharton, Joyce Kenney, and Judy Grise, there are new arrangements of several holiday favorites.
If you are close to the wider DC metro market, perhaps you can catch one of these shows:
- December 1 – The Bright Box, Winchester VA
- December 3 – Royal Cinemas, Front Royal VA
- December 15 – The Apollo Theater, Martinsburg WV
- December 16 – G Boone’s, Boonsboro, MD
- December 17 – The Barns of Rose Hill, Berryville, VA
The full band will be featured at each show, with Kenney joining in on vocals. Steve Harris plays guitar, Malia Furtado is on fiddle, Matt Hickman on banjo, Ryan Mullins on mandolin, and Ashley Stewart on bass.
