Babylon Stone from Steep Canyon Rangers

Event Details

Steep Canyon Rangers

Yep Roc Records has released a single for the Steep Canyon Rangers, taken from their current album with the band, Next Act.

It’s a profoundly bluegrass song, not always the case with the Steeps, written by banjo man Graham Sharp and titled Babylon Stone. A couple of the guys take turns singing this one, which Sharp says is typical of their output.

“This one screams Steep Canyon Rangers arrangement with multiple lead singers, shifting feels, and key changes throughout. Sometimes the thing bringing you down is a pebble on the sidewalk, sometimes it’s a high-rise casino you can’t find your way out of.”

It’s guitarist Aaron Burdett and bass player Barrett Smith switching out lead vocals, with Sharp on banjo, Mike Guggino on mandolin, Mike Ashworth on reso guitar and percussion, and Nicky Sanders on fiddle.

Give it a listen.

Babylon Stone, and the full Next Act album, are available now from popular download and streaming services online.
